#42 Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop TalkingQuiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A nonfiction book championing and exploring the introvert. I could definitely relate, being an introvert myself, and we introverts definitely need some championing. The best parts of the book (I thought) were her personal anecdotes: one in the beginning of the book about a particular experience leading a high-stakes negotiation, and another later in the book about her grandfather, a much loved rabbi. I wish there had been more of those personal anecdotes.

I have two complaints. The first is that the late parts of the book seem to be highly speculative (the Free Trait Theory stuff). The other is that she seems to write very much to a politically liberal audience. This liberal bias is fine for me, but I worry that she would just totally turn conservative readers off. Maybe my worry is unfounded. I can't be sure.
