A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A Tale of Two Cities has attracted copious amounts of both praise and criticism. Both are undoubtedly well deserved. Yes, Dickens sets up a clockwork universe from page one calculated to bring all of its parts together in a neat package in the end, but if you are expecting something else from Dickens you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
I really enjoyed the history. Dickens does a good job of being equally critical of the pre-revolution French aristocracy and the post-revolution Reign of Terror.
Highly recommended. A fun read and a good message, even if you see it coming from miles away.
